The challenge with those methods is always to find the references, here is an example that uses uidoc pick face to pick them. Revut.DB.References can be extracted from existing elements but some conversion may be required to get a workflow that suits your needs. Can you be more specific on what you are aligning? I recommend having a go and posting back with you efforts if you encounter roadblocks
