Hi All, I have an issue where Generative Design for Revit just hangs and doesn’t produce any outcomes. There are no issues with the graph when I run it in Dynamo. Thanks in advance! My graph is below.
Start by shutting off your cpu - you have four studies attempting to run concurrently and as a result things are stuck.
After the restart lunch GD to ‘explore outcomes’, not create a new study. Pause each of the studies which are running if they haven’t paused themselves. It could take a few rounds to get them paused - use task manager to force quit the instance of generative design in your details page of task manager if this hangs up again - be sure to end all things generative there as it may not shut down the server correctly if you just close the application.
Be careful to not ‘double start’ in the future as the second run can’t start until the first finishes, and always keep your initial optimization runs to small population settings.
Thanks Jacob for the prompt response - yes, I have tried those things and unfortunately it still hangs. Does anything seem wrong with my study settings?
Not offhand - but until you permanently stop the prior runs (which are going to automatically kick off when you start the next study as they proceed it in the queue), you’re not going to be able to start a new study. After you get them paused try deleting them and then do a randomization run of one of the samples.
Seems like it’s an issue with my Revit 2024. 2023 works fine.
In 2024 do you only have the one study attempting to run, or are all studies showing a pinwheel? There might be something in the log indicating what is going wrong, so I suggest checking there (%appdata%/generative design 2024/refinery server log.txt
if memory serves)
