Convert IFC element into Revit elements

Hello,

I hope everyone is having a good day. I am looking for a method to convert or duplicate IFC elements (such as pipes, ducts, and cable trays) into Revit native elements. Unfortunately, the IFC elements lack parameters, making it difficult to work with them. Additionally, I am unable to acquire the coordinates of these elements. If anyone has a Dynamo script or any other solution, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

@Robairraouf13 ,

Thats a waste of time. Some elements can be copied, but they appear as generic model with all the contamination stuff that nobody knows. Better is to remodel or replace the elements.

It is better to find a work around.

This is somewhat easy to do with Structural framing and piping, but more difficult with duct (due to connector shapes.

To convert IFC to revit parts with Dynamo,

  1. get their geometry and explode to surfaces
  2. find identical (2) surfaces that are furthest away from each other get their center and create a line
  3. create a family for every type (by IFC Description)
  4. run (beam, duct, pipe) byline tool
  5. copy the IFC GUID parameter to your created family so that you can track back to that element in the future.

What category of element are you trying to convert?
