Civil 3D 2027.1 and Dynamo 4.1

I just installed the Civil 3D 2027.1 update which also updates Dynamo from 4.0 to 4.1. I noticed that, unlike previous updates, I didn’t have to set all preferences again or install all packages again.

Which is of course pretty, but having experience with Dynamo (I got the “Know it all” badge :wink: ), it made me suspicious. So I had a look at the installed locations where the packages reside.

In the Preferences, the folder 13.9 is mentioned:

And the root folder of Dynamo for Civil 3D contains two folders: ‘13.9’ and ‘4.0’.

So, what is actually the situation here? Where does v13.9 comes from? Is that a typo and meant to be v3.9? Why is there no v4.1? Does Dynamo just looks at the highest version folder to put packages and settings in? And is this just a dirty hack to avoid reinstalling all packages after an update?

These separate folders were a known issue in Civil 3D 2027:

It has been partially addressed in Civil 3D 2027.1, where only the 13.9 folder will be created:

Of course that is still not ideal, as 13.9 is a meaningless number for most people. We plan to do more work on this to align with similar changes in Dynamo for Revit, where the data folder aligns with the Revit version rather than the Dynamo version.
