best choice would be to do a generic model. I think those would have the easiest dimensions. How would you suggest I go about exporting it? Is that a dynamo node?
MEP fabrication geometry is 3d mesh
I don’t know if there’s a conclusion in this post, did you find a good solution without replacing the MEP fabrication parts of cable trays into revit system families of cable trays?
I would try to get the curve path of the MEP fabrication parts! Then build geometry extrusion in Dynamo along the path with the data size of the MEP parts, then create families with the dynamo solids generated with category Generic Models or Mass depending on what you want to do with the families
Do you have any examples for it?! This method does work with only cable tray system families. Not ITM families.
The current issues I have with jt are:
I can’t get the same geometry parameters to adjust and change the clearance by the original parameters.
It leaves a weird blue line on the screen representing what I think is geometry. But you can’t click it or remove it.
It creates a new system family type every time I run the command. For every instance. Would like it to just be replaced if that’s possible.
When you get the elements geometry of fabrication parts I believe you get 3d mesh and curves, do you find the curves?
@ruben.romero I believe @Daan tried curves but not mesh. How would you get the geometry from curves or mesh? What nodes.
I can send what I got on Monday for it so far.
Select model elements manually in screen and element geometry ?
Hi @T.Sorrell …probably something here for mesh…
@sovitek What packages di you use to do this?
Hi @T.Sorrell …mesh to polysurface is from spring
Could you send the DYN? I can make out what some of the nodes say do to my screen. Specifically the code blocks
sorry dont have it anymore…but in the first codeblock just type a==0 in the second its should be a==-1…
the rest is just distance for the clearance…try it or share what you have now and we can take a look
edit i find it in my bin…here it is…
Home (2).dyn (44.2 KB)
@sovitek so I am haviong trouble getting it to show up how you did. I get a huge mess when I try to run the command on the tray. Did you set this up for system family cable tray or MEP fabrication parts?
Looks like it might be a units issue. Mm vs feet cs meters. Change the thicken distance as needed.
For my test it was fabrication parts…think its what you want…anyway think its some unit i guess…as Jacob say…are you in mm ?
I am in inches
aha then its a unit issue i work in mm and dont know nothing about inches
I am using ITM families. I just dont think dynamo likes the wire mesh style of it
how do I get to inches?
