Using gridline intersection points to place columns - inconsistent vertical lines

Hi,
I’ve have a grid system in place created by lines. I am now using their intersection points to place columns a certain height. The points come in with the right Z value but the connection they have with the associated level of the column is odd. Instead of going straight up they are coming in at crazy angles.

I’ve tried adjusting the lacing of the line node but I can only get the odd line vertical. Any ideas on where I’m going wrong?
