Shared Family Set Parameter

Hi,

So I have what seems like a basic one… Setting a parameter value by name, unfortunately it’s not working… The only thing I can think is that it’s because it’s a nested shared family?

In Revit I can edit family type and adjust the value, but not in Dynamo?

Unless I’m doing something daft?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark,

When you edit the nested family and reload it, you get a popup, asking you to overwrite parameter values, there are two more options in that dialog, did you check on that one?

Hey Marcel,

Thanks for looking at it…

Revit lets me ‘edit type’ to change it… I’m not trying to background reload or anything clever…

I guess that under the hood, Revit is doing something unusual to keep the family and it’s nested family consistent, I’ll dig around in the building coder blog

To give a bit of context, I am 3D printing a balcony family and making the steelwork shared nested families chunky enough to print.

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark,
Its just that i ran into the same thing too, i had to delete the nested family first and reload it again to get it to fully overwrite. Sometimes when reload without being deleted first it doesn’t have all the new properties.
