Placing views on sheets using a Open Office Calc

I am trying to use a script posted by @GavinCrump where you use a spreadsheet to place views on sheets.

My issue is that our office does not have Excel installed, so I swapped out the Import node with the Data.OpenXMLImportExcel node and it keeps saying that my file has corrupt data.

I am able to open the file in Open Office Calc and Google Sheets with no issue, so I don’t believe there is any corrupt data. I have tried saving it as an .xlsx, xls, .ods, .sxc from Open Office Calc and I can’t get any file type to work. I tried opening it with Google Sheets and downloaded an Excel and it said that there was not a Sheet1, but there was.

What am I doing wrong when saving the spreadsheet from Open Office Calc?

No help on getting OpenOffice working - but would exporting to .csv then importing that work?

So I don’t know what I did differently when saving to an Excel format(which is kind of annoying) but I’m not getting an error for but it’s still showing ‘null’.

This is why I wish we just had Excel in the office.

I couldn’t seem to get that file type to work

Maybe try like this, using either a tab or comma depending on whether you try csv or tsv format. I recommend tsv, as people often use commas whereas rarely use tabs in cell contents.

If you don’t have access to Excel (which is preposterous btw, a pox on your boss), maybe look into Google Sheets which can take in Excel and send out tsv.

I agree. I’ve had to deal with not having Excel at 2 firms I’ve worked for, they are small firms and the limited amount of work they do with word or excel they feel Google Drive is sufficient. So they store all their files on Gdrive and create all their documents via Google Docs and Sheets.
I get annoyed then because Sheets does not have all the functionality that Excel does and it doesn’t link or play well with other programs. Luckily I’ve been able to use Open Office Calc to work on the files we export from Ideate Software because I’m spending, what seems like, equal time in a spreadsheet as I am in Revit because it is so much easier to edit data in a spreadsheet than via Revit windows.
On top of that I am having an issue where randomly our files and/or folders will not appear occasionally on the desktop. This is where it is pulling our Scripts and Toolbar files, so when the folders don’t appear those don’t work. There is no solution from Google other than refreshing the folder.

end rant, back to the topic

So I’m editing this post for the third time, lol. I did end up going a different route using the CSV file and had an issue with the views showing up in the wrong sheets. So I got a trial of Excel to test the script in it’s original form and was still getting the page issue. It was then I noticed that my pages in the spreadsheet were wrong. I changed that and the views populated correctly.

Thanks again for sharing this!

Here is an image of the entire script I was using with the CSV file if you are curios the route I ended up using:
