Hi,
I just got started with dynamo. I am trying to place light fitting on points that have been defined along a tunnel model but script doesnt seems to work
hello, the graph seems correct, but you have just one point for just one instance and perhaps it’s just a matter of host ! some family light’s need a ceilling .
You need to define a family that is able to be inserted by point in that node.
For reference, these posts may be useful.
I’m having problem fitting my adaptive family along a curve, my problem is to get the Generic Model to be placed in revit, like it is fitting i Dynamo.
The model is showing up in refit, but its not a Generic Model.
Is it possible to make the adaptive point, adjusting to any given coordinate-system?

Hi all, I’ve seen a few posts on this in the past but have not found any conclusive answers. What is the best way to array a rectangular family perpendicularly across a curve?
I have been able to divided the curve and establish coordinate systems that are perpendicular but FamilyInstance.ByPoint does not allow me to apply the orientation of the coordinates. Is this something I can dousing the UV grid? Can I rotate the
amilies after the array? An added rotation instance parameter is less than …
Agree, but you’ll quickly discover that trying to fully automate this will be fraught with problems and ultimately fail to achieve its main objective.
For example:
You could extract the curves from each Family then find the curve at the tip of the fin closest to the grid line, then work out the angle of rotation…and deal with the fact its curved…but not before getting the centre point of the Family (this wont always be possible depending on the geometry in the Family)! The only way I know to g…
Joop,
There is no simple way to align a point based family instance to a Dynamo CS. (the same way you have to take a few steps inside the Revit UI: place, offset, rotate)
Luckily for you, Dynamo 0.81 introduced a new node called “FamilyInstance.SetRotation”. Prior to that it was necessary to access the API every time you wanted to rotate something.
With its help and by splitting the process into steps, you can try something along the lines of this:
[2015-07-24_17-47-07]
[2015-07-24_17-48-54…
Experiment some more and I’m sure you will get it.
you can also try the node " Family instance by point and level" .
