Dynamo doesnt start from Revit after 0.73 upgrade

Hi all,

<span lang=“EN-US”>I’m experiencing that Dynamo doesn’t start from Revit after upgrading<span class=“apple-converted-space”> </span>to version 0.73.
I’ve tried to completely uninstall dynamo and re-installing, but no luck.</span>

<span lang=“EN-US”>Any other had similar problems?</span>

I’m working in Revit 2015.

Regards
/Martin

Hi Martin, looking for a few more details:

  • What is your operating system
  • What version of Dynamo did you have installed before you upgraded? 0.7.2 official release or a daily build?
  • Any error messages from Revit when you open Revit or when you try to start Dynamo?
  • Is the Dynamo logo appearing at all in the Addins tab?

I think I may be having the same problem. After updating to 0.7.3 Dynamo doesn’t run using the Addin for Revit 2015, but does in 2014. When I hit the button in the Add-Ins tab it goes grey, but Dynamo never opens with no error messages.

Capture

  • OS Windows 7 Sp1
  • Dynamo 0.7.2 was installed just before the upgrade
  • Dynamo does not run in Revit 2015 (Build 20140905_0730)
  • Dynamo does run by opening it directly.
  • Dynamo does run in Revit 2014 (Build 20140709_2115)
  • Installing the daily build, or previous versions, does not fix the issue

Ben and Martin, could you try uninstalling all versions of Dynamo (current version + 0.6.3) from the Control Panel? Then reinstall Dynamo. There was a recommendation put in place around the time of the 0.7.2 release that all previous versions should be uninstalled first. Can you write back here about whether this works for you?

I am experiencing the same issue, but only with Revit 2015, Revit 2014 seems to work fine…

Hello Chris Mckeown,

Could you tell what error are you getting?

Or it just going gray out and Dynamo not Launching?

Tyr this workaround:

  1. Close all running Revit applications.
  2. Go to you Dynamo installed directory (C:\Program Files\Dynamo 0.7)
  3. Run this exe DynamoAddinGenerator.exe
  4. Re Launch Revit and the try launching Dynamo.
Thanks,

Ritesh

Running DynamoAddinGenerator.exe only removed Dynamo completely from my Addins tab in Revit

BTW Same issue with DynamoInstall0.7.4.20141113T0718.exe I just tried. Also tried changing all regional settings to US

Thanks for the reply Colin. I removed all previous versions and then installed 0.7.3 and the problem persists.

I also tried Ritesh’s suggestion. When I run the DynamoAddinGenerator.exe it deletes the existing addin, but does not recreate it.

Hi Ritesh,

Running DynamoAddinGenerator.exe worked for me.

Thank you

Chris Mckeown

Wait that just reset me back t0 0.6.3.7993…

Hello Chris Mckeown, Håvard Vasshaug

If your addin has been removed after running that exe then please re install Dynamo and give me below information.

Can you guys please tell me what is there in your addin file at this location (C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2015\Dynamo.addin).

Revit folder can be changed based on Revit 2014 or 2015 on your machine.

Copy paste information of your Addin file here.

I want to see where that exactly pointing to.

Is there any way, by which I can directly chat with you guys?

Thanks,

Ritesh

add in file location Capture

Dynamo sample file is in older version as you have to upgrade to open it.

Hi all,

Tried pretty much everything mentioned in this thread.

Here is what is in my 2015 addin folder.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hello Martin Romby,

Open Dynamo.Addin and copy paste information here.

I want to see where Dynamo is pointing.

Thanks,

Ritesh

Ritesh -

Here’s the Dynamo.addin info, the dll does exist in that location.

<?xml version=“1.0” encoding=“utf-8” standalone=“no”?>
<RevitAddIns>
<AddIn Type=“Application”>
<Name>Dynamo For Revit</Name>
<Assembly>“C:\Program Files\Dynamo 0.7\Revit_2015\DynamoRevitVersionSelector.dll”</Assembly>
<AddInId>8D83C886-B739-4ACD-A9DB-1BC78F315B2B</AddInId>
<FullClassName>Dynamo.Applications.VersionLoader</FullClassName>
<VendorId>ADSK</VendorId>
<VendorDescription>Dynamo</VendorDescription>
</AddIn>
</RevitAddIns>

I am having the exact same issues described above with the 7.3.3034 build opening in Revit 2015. This was not an issue when I was working from my school’s lab computers but only on my laptop. Would that have anything to do with the Graphics Card being sub-par by comparison to operate?

Hello All,

We have noticed that many user reported this and we found that if you have installed Kiwi Bonus Tools add-in, then Dynamo failed to Start.

Can you please check whether this Addin is there on your machine or not.

Thanks,

Ritesh
