It appears the sheets are duplicated and the number is revised to be unique, but I still get the error and I have to cancel. Then, in Dynamo, the new sheets have no name?
Also, can anyone explain to me what “DupliclateWithContents” exactly means? It is not in the software UI…
In Dynamo, where are the options available in the UI?

I just want to duplicate the sheets without views, but with detailing (title block…).
Any tip on the use of this node would be great.
Revit 2025.4
The node by default adds " - Copy" to the new sheet number, you have overridden this with a similar suffix.
Have you run the dynamo graph more than once? (or on Automatic) Could be a potential reason for getting duplicate warnings. Further, the node checks for duplicate numbers before creating a new sheet - so this is unexpected behaviour
We can’t see the input sheets - are you trying to copy the same sheet twice?
The node copies the name directly from the original sheet - does the original sheet have a name?
Perhaps start with one of the Revit sample files (and a fresh launch of Revit) and see if you get similar results
Are these perhaps Placeholder sheets? Then it would make sense that they don’t have any sheet name or sheet number. Try filtering your collected sheets on whether they have at least 1 view on them

Your error also states that those sheets have an empty Sheet Number. Which seems to be why they’re being counted as duplicates.
Sheets are indeed views, but views aren’t necessarily sheets. The View Duplicate Options node contains options for views that aren’t available for sheets - make sure you’re selecting a valid duplicate option. You might also want to review what each duplicate option does. You should be fine with just Duplicate Empty Sheet and nothing else.

Ah yeah that makes sense. Definitly filter the sheets some more and relate the type of view to the DuplicationOption
Here is an update, using defaults of the Duplicate sheet node, and an in-depth explanation of existing sheets:
This makes no sense to me, but I am open to suggestions.
Are there other nodes I should look at?
What Revit / Dynamo version are you using?
- These could be placeholder sheets.
- You could look into duplicating the view and creating sheets without duplicating them.
- Running a purge might clean up some things.
- Make sure to undo after every (test) run of the script.
Well, thank you for the suggestions, RevitRobot.
Question for you: are you AI?
Anyways, I tested the Sheet.DuplicateSheet node with a new default project and it does work as expected.
So now I have to understand why it does not work in my specific project file…
If you’re able to share a (trimmed down, cleaned up) copy of the Revit file and the DYN, we can take a closer look.
hmmm… that’s what an AI Agent would say…

Can’t prove a negative. So good luck believing in the existence of AGI
AGI exists, it’s right there, in my tax return, every year…
oh, wait…
