MultipleInputForm++ - Unknown Input Type: str

This is my first attempt to use Data-Shapes node. I am using the node to filter the View Family Types list in the model. The dialog does not list the names of the View Family Types or the ability to select one.

I assume the issue is user error but could use some help to troubleshoot this issue and hopefully learn a bit more about this node.

Hi Chuck,

Nice to see you trying out the Data-Shapes package. I use this package for almost all of my Dynamo tools. Without seeing your Dynamo script, it would be difficult to know for sure what’s causing the alert messages. I can, however, show a sample of how I might set up a couple of Lists using the ListView Data node. In assembling the Family Type lists, you’ll notice I went the long way in creating each of the Family Type lists, to demonstrate a couple of different ways in creating them. Normally, I’ll go the shortest path that makes good sense. Also, depending on the lengths of the lists, I may pre-size the heights of the List windows, so that the dialog box is a bit more easy on the eyes, and not so long. I also like to give each of the List windows their own titles. I hope you find this helpful!

Thanks, John . There is a lot to unpack there.

Attached is a working script that creates Section Views of a selected ViewFamilyType. I want to modify the selection list for the ViewFamilyTypes to only show Section view family types. The second script seems to do what I want, but since the output is a string and not a ViewFamilyType I am trying to figure out how to get use them together.

Hi Chuck, I’ve downloaded your scripts, and will take a look at them tomorrow for you. Which version of Revit are you using btw? I’d want to edit them in the same version to ensure compatibility, thanks!

Thanks John. I managed to get a working version of the script. I don’t understand it all, but it does what I need it to do!

Hi Chuck, that’s great to know! I did take a quick look today out of curiosity, and couldn’t help myself in rearranging a few of the nodes in a way that I might use it. I try to frontload all of the data into the dialogs, so that it’s off to the races once the user clicks ‘OK’. In this version, I used your nodes to get all of the View Types, extracted the Names in string format, tested for all Names with ‘Section’ in the Type name. I then sorted the list so that it’s easy on the eyes for the user, and used the RadioButtons Data node, to limit one ElementType being selected. I hope you find this useful.
