from what you are aware of, Is the CAD import nodes works to detect even .3dm files? Or should I use another node?

Could you take a screenshot of which nodes you are talking about ?
Note : there are nodes that are designed to communicate with Rhinoceros (in the Rhynamo package I believe).
Rhynamo is the package you need, but the last version i used supports Rhino 5, not 6, but it was a long time ago
