How to create dedicated views for furniture?

Hi Forum,

I am hoping someone can help me with this issue I am having.

I have been tasked with trying to find a solution for creating hundreds of Revit views for all the pieces of furniture in a project. The script needs to identify every piece of furniture in the project and create several views for each piece of furniture. For example, a bed would need to have it’s own floor plan and all 4 elevations as separate views.

I have just started trying to achieve this, but when I start to add too many pieces of furniture ( about 5 or 6), the mouse wheel just spins and never does anything, I have waited for 10 minutes and nothing happens.

I have attached the graph so long, its very simple and for now I am just trying to create section views by the bounding box.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks very much!

You might have a window/action open in Revit which Dynamo waits for you to close to actually complete the run

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks so much for the quick response

I don’t have any box in Revit unfortunately, but interestingly I turned my execution to manual and ran it which seems to have solved it.

Can you offer any advice on how to create multiple views for one item of furniture? I need to isolate every piece of furniture and create floor plans, sections and elevations for each individual piece?

Thanks so much!

Yea… Not a fan of automatic run…

Have a look at this post:

Hi,

You have many nodes to create floorplan, sections, 3D views.
2 examples : Package SteamNodes : “Element.Create 3D Cropped view” to create 3D views and “Create Element View” from BIM4Struc.Productivity to create sections.

You can take inspiration from this article :

I will have a look at all these suggestions, all your help is really appreciated!
