I’m a bit confused about how to determine if the package I want to use is compatible with my version of Dynamo.
Can anyone guide me please:)

Most packages start with a year.
Download the package that has the same year as the Revit version you use.
Some packages have the Dynamo version in the name. In example 2.3, 2.6, 2.12.
Download the package which share the version.
Also, If you close Revit and Dynamo, backup your packages folder located at …\Appdata\Roaming\DynamoXXX\Packages and temporary delete data there, restart Revit and open the DYN file, Dynamo will show the Workspace References tab, where you will see exact versions of missing packages.
Like @bvs1982 mentioned most good packages will describe themselves or version themselves in such a manner. Only some packages use the version system though (e.g. archilab), most will list the supported builds or build the package is developed against if they’re worth using. If they’re not, there isn’t really a sure way of knowing if they will work.
With a few exceptions, I tend not to use packages that haven’t been updated within the last year or two, as they would have missed some key python engine changes and API deprectations/changes.
This topic can also be useful (for that).
The best way is to read the package description, which can be found by opening the ‘info’ section.
