not sure why i get a null value here. Do i need some time out before inserting the family and placing it?

Is the package updated (which one is it btw ?) ? And have you tried to paste the content of the node in your graph to see where does the error show up ?
Clockwork is up to date
Didnt tried the python yet
Have you tried the WaitFor node to wait for the family to load?
There are some other nodes for this aswell
Try a different family type and see if that works.
