Dynamo SandBox versions =Dynamo Core 2.18,2.13.1,2.16 not running Geometry nodes

I am getting this error on all geometry nodes

what should I do to resolve this.
I have installed three versions of dynamo core and got the same error.

You need to install one of the Autodesk core applications, such as Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Alias, FormIt, etc…

Note that for 2.18 that requires a 2024 version.

I have Revit 2019 on my machine

will I need that if I just want to use the sandbox?

The 2019 product line will limit you to Dynamo 2.6 if I recall, but it could go as far back as 2.0.4. As the geometry library for the core products updates, Dynamo has to update in unison, and previous geometry kernels won’t load in.

So if you want a modern Dynamo build, you’ll need to get a modern core product installed.

Note that 2019 has not been supported for almost a year and a half now so you’re exposed to a plethora of security issues; best to remove it and get an updated build.

Can we copy geometry library from Revit 2024 to have complete Dynamo 2.18 sandbox?

A few years back you could install Revit, not activate it and Dynamo Sandbox worked.
I don’t know if that is still the case.

Pretty sure that copying the DLL like that would be a violation of the license. Best to install a 2024 if you want to utilize Dynamo.

I had Dynamo Sandbox work before without any other Autodesk product installed on my PC before. :exploding_head:

The number of Autodesk products which get this is quite sneaky… I have previously thought the same and had to dig out which tool I had installed that got it on there.

@jacob.small

A few days ago Dynamo Sandbox stopped working for me.

And now all of a sudden it works again.

I changed or installed nothing in that time (other then a game on Steam).

I have (or had) ZERO Autodesk products installed on my PC. At least not that i am aware of.

This may be a shock, but some games are built with Autodesk tools… ergo…

More likely you previously installed an Autodesk tool between the last time you reformatted and when it broke, but a registry issue prevented it from showing up after another update / install / whatever. After some more of the hijinks which can occur in a software update the geometry library is seen again.

It’s also important to note that the only thing which won’t work is geometry stuff - the bulk of the tools ship with Dynamo itself.

No, not a shcok. I know this. Seen their logo plenty of time when firing up a game (i have like 250 games on Steam alone. Not all installed obviously).

As i said it worked before. Also pretty sure nothing much has changed on my system before breaking and after working again…

Anyhow, it works again and I can’t care why for the moment. When (or IF) it works it it works. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
