Hello Dynamites!
This Challenge is now over!
A huge thanks to all those who participated! We loved to see your creativity and the love for your cities/region.
Now, its polling time!
Come shower some love to all the creations from the fellow community members. We can’t wait to see who the community votes in as winner and runner-up!
We will keep the poll open for the one week and announce our winners on March 12th!

All graphs are present in this thread, so that you can inspect each DYN file to help you choose your favorite! You can vote based on the criteria suggestions provided below:
- Unique and innovative approach to public art. Think outside the box

- Dynamo skills and techniques to achieve your design. The more creative use of Dynamo and well-executed, the better.

- Location of public art. How does your design enhance the chosen city? Does it reflect the culture, history, or environment?

- While creativity is key, also think about the practicality of the design.

- Or consider any other criteria you like: wow factor, complexity / simplicity, humor or any other criteria of your choice!

Entry 01: Smoke And Atoms in Manchester
Entry 01_SmokeAndAtoms.dyn (53.3 KB)
Description:
Manchester, the first industrial city on earth, has many facets, just like this sculpture.
The worker bee, the enduring symbol of Manchester’s unity and industry is represented by the golden sphere.
The structured petals reference the city’s industrial heritage and the lasting impact it has left on the world.
The black pole reflects the factory chimneys, that once defined the skyline, mostly gone, but never forgotten.
The darker petals serve as a reminder of difficult past events, from Peterloo to the IRA bomb and the more recent Arena attack. These moments are inextricably woven into the fabric of Manchester, shaping resilience of every Mancunian.

As a city that straddles two continents, Istanbul seamlessly blends ancient history with modern vibrancy, and its rich cultural identity is reflected in various symbols, one of the most beloved being seagulls.
Seagulls are more than just birds; they are an integral part of the city’s charm, representing freedom, movement, and the deep connection between Istanbul and the surrounding waters. They contribute to the city’s unique atmosphere, cherished by locals and admired by visitors alike.
This louvered wall is entirely modeled with Dynamo, with model curve inputs from Revit. The louvered wall consists of 299 individual profiles, each of which can be extracted from Dynamo for fabrication. The final renders were created using Twinmotion, showcasing the interplay of light, shadow, and form in this dynamic architectural feature.

I thought to make the 2D 3D, and set about this little journey.
At first I used raw data manually ripped from
Sunrise and sunset times in London
but quickly wished to expand the script’s potential to adjust to wherever the located on earth!
With LadyBug sadly throwing up errors, and being very much a OOTB-only kind of masochist, I scoured the internet for a calculator…
…and chanced upon NOAA’s downloadable offerings:
Solar Calculator - NOAA Global Monitoring Laboratory
and quickly set to work fetching data from the .xls file.
…but that was too easy, and required a download and support file - why not transpose the Excel formula into Dynamo and pull project location automajickally?!
