Does Wall Layer Reference Node work with multilayer finishes?

Hi @Alban_de_Chasteigner, @jacob.small, and other experts,

I am using the Genius Loci package for wall layer reference, but I’m not getting the proper layer reference. Does the Wall Layer References Node work only with single-layer finishes, or can it also be used with multilayer finishes?

Thanks in advance!

This isn’t a node I have much experience with, and what experience I do have was awhile back.

That said I believe it works with multiple layers without issue, but there might be some issues with embedded profiles that cause severe shape edits or similar. Best to post a small sample file and graph to show what issue you’re having.

Hi @jacob.small,

I’ve uploaded the RVT and DYN files below. I used Revit 2021 for this.
sample_DIM.rvt (5.1 MB)
wall dimension latest.dyn (95.6 KB)

Below one i made for Revit version 2024.2.
Wall Dimensions.dyn (100.8 KB)

What is the warning though? I am not at my PC this weekend so I can’t troubleshoot for you.

The script runs perfectly and has added dimensions, but the positions of the dimensions are incorrect. I used “Bottom to Bottom (Core Face)” for the vertical dimension and “Left to Left (Core Face)” for the horizontal dimension.

For the one side finished wall shown in the image below, the left-side dimension is added correctly. However, for the multiple finished wall on the right side, the dimensions are not positioned correctly.

Hi @jacob.small,

I’m still not receiving any responses from you or anyone else. Could you let me know if this will work with multiple wall finishes? Additionally, I would appreciate any suggestions for packages or Python code that could help with this.

Thank you!

Yes it can work. Genius Loci is the best package I know for dimensions. If you flip the walls on the right side do they dimension as you expect?

I tried, but it not give correct dimensions position.
