Beginner looking to progress with graph + clean up the mess :)

Hi all,

I’m new to Dynamo and may have created a complicated graph! I apologize if my nomenclature is off, but I wanted to try before asking for help.

My goal is to place a family on a wall face at specific centers and offsets from the edge, and to place structural columns with a defined length at every vertical center, a grid system of generic models and columns.

The images below show my progress and my future goal:

Image 1: My current progress

Image 2: Goal with unequal vertical centers and individual offsets from the wall edge (DIM A, B, C, D). Columns are trimmed around openings, and generic models are placed based on edge offsets with horizontal centers ≤DIM Y.

Issues with Image 1:

  1. Creating the grid system was fine, but placing points on a specific face at specific locations is challenging. My solution is messy.
  2. I can’t correctly rotate the columns to match the face normal direction. Using the “All Elements of Category” node with the element set parameter node only works depending on the wall’s direction.

Can anybody point me in the direction to clean up and optimize this graph?

Thank you for your patience.

Best, B
