Pff, there’s no light source there. 
You are now using the “metric generic model” family template.
Open that, do your changes, save as family, rename .rfa to .rft.
From now on you have a family template that gives access to your desired materials. And you can call it by name when using the familyinstace.bygeometry node.
Or do you need to do it with dynamo?

Hi @gerhard.p i guess you are right…one possible way could be first copy the rft. to rfa, open that file in BG add the material, copy the file with rft extension again [copy file]…just an idea or probably open the family after created and add the materiel in BG…
