Wall intersection with columns

Hello everyone i have a specific problem that i cant resolved and i lke to know if there is anybody that could tell me what i am doing wrong.

I like to find if i have columns in the start or end in the masonry wall, i tried using this method but it does not working, i hope somebody has one related problem and i can tell what they do to resolve it.!

Finally i find the way that i can do it thanks Ewan_Opie you give the idea i only modified to apply for any condition.
