Updating Structural Foundation Size Parameters via Excel Input

Hi Dynamo Family,

I duplicated the structural foundation element using the Element.Duplicate Node. I am now attempting to update its size parameters (Width, Length, and Thickness) using the SetParameter tool; however, this approach has not been successful.

Additionally, I have the required size values stored in an Excel file and would like to update the parameters directly using this data as input.

Column Coordinate.xls (30 KB)

DY000M3_ Create Dublicate Element (wall,Floor,etc,..).dyn (22.9 KB)

Could you please assist me with the correct method or workflow to achieve this?

Thank you for your support.

From the input names of Element Duplicate, I think it asks for Element input instead of Family Types. Then you hook Element.SetParameterByName from its output where I believe it gives you all the duplicated ones.

Thanks for your update. Now i resolve the issue.

DY000M3_ Create Dublicate Element (wall,Floor,etc,..).dyn (69.1 KB)

Can anyone simplify the Set parameter procedure.

Lacing and list levels issue.

Get the elements as a flat list.
Get the parameter names a flat list.
Get the parameter value sets in the same order as the elements as a 2d list (a list of lists of values) where each value is in the same sequence as the parameter names. This may require a List.Transpose node.
Wire the elements, parameter names, and parameter value sets into a single Element.SetParameterValueByname node.
Set the inputs to @L1, @L2, @L2 and lacing to longest.

As I understand it you are attempting to create new Family Types based on the input from the excel file. The standard way to achieve this is to duplicate the type, then update the parameters. Once created it would be possible to place as needed. Example below uses Structural Foundations, columns would use b and h. I have used a List.Slice node to get the dimensions from the Excel.
Edit: Fixed list levels on parameter setting
Edit 2: Includes Type Mark now with List.TakeItems node

Thanks its worked
