Transfer GraphicStyle of <Invisible line> to existing files

Dear users,

I am currently trying to transfer the graphical standard of the “invisible line” from one Revit project to another, as I am particularly keen on achieving that dashed line appearance. I have made some progress by creating a bank file and isolating the style in Revit. However, I am finding it challenging to override the standard .

I am aware that using Transfer Project Standards is an option, but this approach overrides too many styles, which is not ideal for my needs. While I know this isn’t a major issue, I am really set on retaining the dashed line format.

Does anyone have any ideas or alternative workarounds? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Hello @ here is a way with datashapes so you can pick which ones you will transfer…could probably help…

Hey ,

Thank you for the suggestion so far! Based on the advice, I managed to transfer the GraphicsStyle of the line, but it didn’t overwrite the existing one. Instead, it added a second GraphicsStyle for invisible lines to the project.

Now, I’m having difficulty selecting the line itself to apply the new GraphicsStyle I’ve brought into the project. I tried forcing it by deleting the original GraphicsStyle, but this caused a lot of errors in Revit and disrupted other elements in the project.

Has anyone encountered this issue or know how to set a specific GraphicsStyle to an existing line?

Delay the all elements of type node from running until after the copy node has completed, this can be achieved via using a pass through/waitfor systems.

Doing this will make sure them nodes are not running prior to the coping node has completed. Then can see where the issue is more once confirmed its not this.

Also have you tried getting all the data from the original, then trying to apply these settings onto the current opened element(similar to changing parameters)? There are examples of this on the forum that may be able to help

yeah  and close the document again after transfer or it will be unstable

Thanks again for your input! To clarify, I’m working on this as a WIP script, so I’m not running everything together at once. I freeze the top portion of the script while working on the bottom, and vice versa.

Here’s where I’m hitting a roadblock: I can’t figure out how to apply the GraphicalStyle to this type of line. Even though I’ve successfully brought the new GraphicalStyle into the project, I’m stuck on how to assign it properly to the lines.
