Structural Framings 2

Hey Guys,
I found very weird things that happened by structural framings…
I made normal graph for 3d curved structural beam
5

and this works

very good.

but I added y coordinate on 4th point,

7

result is…

just drew direct line…
What happened?
What’s wrong with this?

In the first instance - the beam is curved, but only in one plane. In the second instance when you add the different Y value, the beam must now curve in multiple planes - and Revit doesn’t allow that for structural framing families.

Thanks, Ben.
I understood what I did.
And more question,
Then, Regardless of type of profile( host, rail, mullion…), Revit can not draw a Structural Framings 3D cuve. is it right??
then, when I want to draw a rail by structural framing, is it impossible?

Sorry, I’m really fresh man in revit and dynamo…

Revit cannot create something in the “Structural Framing” category that is curved in more than one plane. That is a limitation of the software. Some categories and family types do have those capabilities (rails, adaptives, ramps), but structural framing is not one of them.

You can rationalize your nurbs curve into a series of tangential planar arcs.

Thanks, Ben
This tutorial is very helpful to me,
I thought “Structural Framing” could drawn to “surface” even if that has some wrinkles like curtain.
So I spent lots of time for drawing it…
And Now, I am able to finish it with your advice.

“Structural Framing” category cannot to be drawn to 3D curve.
That is a limitation of the software.
