Select Model Elements By Category w/Category Node

Anyone know if there is a Select Model Elements By Category node that lets you use a node to select the Category?

Did you search for it? EDIT I’m assuming you have the node but want change the categories dynamically. If you use the node you will note that it filters as you select, so it won’t have other categories selected - see below for suggested alternative which will update elements based on selection and category

Thanks for the suggestion, I’m pretty familiar with Dynamo so I’m not sure why I didn’t think to do it this way.

If you want to filter multiple categories or conditions then filtering in graph is best. If you want to streamline things for your users by only allowing specific selections then Data-Shapes has a node for filtered selection by category.

Wow, I need to step up my game as I didn’t think of Data-Shapes either. I could place it on my Pyrevit tool bar I created then too. Thanks for the tip.

I believe there are out of the box nodes for this in the generative design section of the Revit library as well.

This node is really nice. I used to have a version of it in Rhythm before DynamoCore adopted it.

However, this node will not work in Generative Design or Dynamo player.

Yeah, I was using the script in Player and it doesn’t allow the user to select the category.
I’ll likely go the route of using Data-Shapes so I can add it to my toolbar.
