I am trying to hardcode (not use a drop down) but it’s giving me Analytical surfaces instead. I tried “Ceiling” (singular) but that’s not the answer.
Anyone shed light on this please?
It’s fine in all earlier versions of Dynamo.
This is Dynamo 2.16 in Revit 23

Whaaat?! That’s weird!
@jacob.small surely this is a glitch?
This has been brought up before. I believe it’s a known issue at this point. Best bet is to get the category through python and the API.

Hey there Dynamo community. I’m checking my company’s scripts to make sure they work in Revit 2023/Dynamo 2.13 and noticed this issue with specifying Categories using the Category.ByName node. Wondering if anyone has any insight on this.
We specify Categories using the ByName approach for simplicity, ability to be in a code block, etc. We’re trying to grab the four Categories in the code block, but you can see in the Category.ByName preview list that 0 & 2 are actually grabbing the "Analytical …

Dropdowns should work now as well, unless you have projects in unsupported versions to deal with.

Not a fan of drop downs tbh… Just in case someone doesn’t have that category in their model… Although suppose that’s not an issue with ceilings.

Categories are static for all users with that version of Revit, and dropdowns hold true across versions as of 2.4. The exception for this is when categories don’t exist, ie: Abutment Tags not existing in Revit 2020. So as long as you don’t try and run a graph to do automation on something which can’t yet exist in your model, you should be fine.
