Materials with Autodesk Assets

I am in charge of creating a material library for our company and they want me to assess whether the Autodesk material assets are an adequate starting point or if I need to customize them.

What I am looking to do is to use Dynamo to Create New materials with the Autodesk Assets assigned to them. Then place a generic family in the model with that material assigned to it, so that each family instance has the next material assigned to it.

It would be nice to do this by Asset Category, ie Concrete, masonry etc.

I have no idea where to start, can you point me in the correct direction for this.

Hi @dpohlman,

You can look into the Genius Loci package. There are nodes to create appareance assets and materials.
OOTB nodes can then be used to assign the created materials to your family instances.
