Hot to ask the lenght of some elements like beams in dynamo?
Hi @Sintecna.rws05 im not sure what is hot or what kind of interview, you ask for…could you share what you are try to do and share a dyn-rvt or probably just an image…as it could be better for my understanding… ;)…probably just a get parameter
I’d like just to obtain the lenght of the beams into my project
yeah where do these lengths comes from ? is it a set parameter thing ? you has to be more specific
I have a model with many beams elements. They have an incorporate parameter called “Lenght”, like all beam element in revit.
The problem is that I have to set a shared parameter called “Lenght”, so i’d like to use dynamo and set the shared parameter “lenght” automatically. This is the reason cause i want to ask it
oh yeah now understand what you want i guess try get parameter from your beam and try set parameter to your shared parameter…im not at dyn…but think thats the way
This it the value that i want to extract and to put in a shared parameter “Lunghezza”, so a parameter whit the same name
Hi @Sintecna.rws05
long shot is there a space at the end of your string?
Do you have two parameters named Lunghezza perhaps?
Yes I have an incorporate parameter called Lenght and a shared parameter called Lenght
nope, I’m sorry
Remove the shared parameter and use a different name. Duplicate names is problematic for many reasons.
you could also try set value node and find out which parameter…but not best with same parameter name
I cannot, unfortunatly the bim coordinator set that shared parameter
Tell the BIM Coordinator I said that they are a fool for creating a new shared parameter with the same name and data as an existing parameter. Rebuilding the wheel (a new parameter when one already exists) is silly, doing so and keeping the name is downright foolish.
You’re going to have to work with with parameters by GUID instead as a result, which is doable but more than i have time to write a tutorial for this week - there are several topics on it already in the forum though.

Tell us how you really feel!
I just did and I’m happy to tell them as well. No real reason to add this busy work to a designer/engineer/technician’s todo list.
