Is it possible to create a duct connector on a face of duct?

Hi,

Is it possible to create duct connector on a particular point of a duct. My intention is i have to connect a tap piece to a duct. I found a method in API but its asking a Reference. An element can convert to a reference but how can convert a point to a reference.
