In-Place Mass Creation and Parameters Input Via Excel Through Dynamo

Hi,

I’m a newcomer in the Dynamo Field, still learning and grasping the ideas of Dynamo. I’ve got a question to ask the numerous experts and specialists in this field.

I’d like to achieve the following workflow in Dynamo, however i’m not exactly sure which respective nodes to use and the form-up to draft the Dyn. Script. My objective is aimed to generate in-place Revit Massings based off from existing rooms, these massings are extruded to the middle-line of the wall & floor. Afterwhich, adding in IFC shared parameters (Eg. UnitNumber, Building Name, Address etc) to the Massing Category. It will be expected to have alot of these kind of Massings, so inputting of values should be linked to an excel file for easier updating.

Creating Masses based off on Existing Rooms > Extending the Massing to middle-line of wall & floor > Creating and Inputting Shared Parameters to Massing Category > Inputting values in Shared Parameters via Excel File > Exporting to IFC

Would hope to seek any ideas & opinions on this, if above workflow through Dynamo achievable?

Thank you.

Hey Ec_Ioh, welcome!

Surprisingly this is quite a common workflow and a nice one to get into dynamo. There are a range of resources out there which will do a much better job of explaining it than me, these are the one I used:
Revit Snippet: Instant 3D Space Diagram from Rooms! - YouTube
3D Rooms & colorizing | Revit Tutorial | Dynamo - YouTube

I would recommend giving it a go and any particularly issue you have, search the forums as typically they have already been answers or just make another post. Its must easier to provide help for particular steps/issues.

Hope this helps,
Joe
