Do you have the Celery package installed,?
Try uninstalling that

Hey Marcel thanks for the quick response. However, I do not have Celery package.
Instead of tying to subtract the solid from the surface. i just lofted solids and then solid by union. Then exploded the solid and filtered the top surface with a Boolean mask. gave me the result i was looking for.
