Featurelines from Polylines and lines

I’m trying to create feature lines by object from 3d polylines and lines for our existing surfaces. I keep running into the selection is an acad object and needs to be a civil object. I also am trying to figure out how to erase the object while keeping the feature line on the same layer like what we can do on the dialog box when doing it manually. How does one convert that to a Civil object?
