Dynamo 2.18 (Revit 2024.1 )- Bar Chart Not Displaying

Hello,

I am trying to get any of the Chart Nodes to display in graph, but without success.

But lets look at the Bar Chart node as an example. (Graph attached) Trying to emulate results shown on Dynamo 2.18 new features page, ie create a simple chart with some names, numbers and some colour assignments.
No errors result on Bar Chart node. But looking at Watch node I would expect the color reference to feature. A couple of questions as it is not too clear on the help.

  1. Should the Chart display once run?
  2. I am missing something in this script? Possible, it is getting late for me here in UK!
  3. Have tried other Chart nodes (none of them preview graphics, although watch nodes seem to show values!

Hoping some kind soul will put me back on the right path!

Can you restart the CPU, launch Revit and then Dynamo, open this graph, see the reproduced error, and then quit Revit and post your Dynamo log file and Revit journal? Might be something in there around a dependency conflict.

Rebooted, restarted revit, started with a blank document.

No errors witnessed just doesn’t display the bar chart as I would expect and as documentation suggests.

See if this link for Revit Journal works all the script is just processing numbers not accessing anything in Revit document

So we can see that there is an error with the xml parsing, but not why or what the conflict might be.

Try disabling all your Revit add-ins, and Dynamo customizations and packages and see if that clears things up.

If not, let me know hwre so I can flag development.

No joy, even uninstalled Revit 2024

Rebooted , reinstalled and reapplied 0.1 patch still no success. Dynamo still seems to have issues parsing that XML

I did also have the Enscape Add-in installed, but even after removing it and restarting Revit/Dynamo still no joy

Colleague also has the same issue, ie script doesn’t display pie or bar chart

Can you post the journal and Dynamo log from when enscape and other add-ins were disabled?Dev team will need these at a minimum. If it’s easier you can submit a ticket via the accounts portal at manage.autodesk.com.

Enscape has been uninstalled for now, restarted app and system several times. Log and journals attached (think I can do that now)

Its a shame really wanted to have a play with these new nodes. But hopefully some solution will turn up soon. Do have older Revits 2022/23 also installed , not sure if relevant but just in case uninstalled / disabled from them too. (nothing odd just old versions of Archilabs Clockwork etc.) But these werent visible for 2024!

Opened the DYN you attached earlier in sandbox but it worked for me. Would you do me a favor to download the released Dynamo 2.18 sandbox and give it a try? I will also ask the dev team tomorrow if they have any idea about this, but would appreciate if you could try that without the Revit host to give us more information.

Thanks for confirming my script runs ok, downloading Dynamo Sandbox now.
If that works ok, will try Dynamo with Formit (if it contains Dynamo 2.18)

EDIT

Just realised FORMIT only has Dynamo 2.17, but I’ll tinker with 2.18 in sandbox for now, just a pity cant do anything with charts and a Revit document yet.

But as you can see all works ok might try my luck with the Dynamo with Formit, information might prove useful. Least I have something to tinker with now!

Heard back from the Revit team, this is a known issue with the Dynamo for Revit shipped with 2024.1. They think we’ll have a fix issued with 2024.1.1, for which I don’t have a date but I don’t expect it will be too far out… All of which is to say whatever you learn by playing with sandbox or FormIt will be able to be implemented in Revit soon (I think). :slight_smile:

Appreciate the update, I will share that info to the wider team here. Look forward to the new fix and will test it once out! Been busy with other stuff today, AutoCAD of all things, but hopefully will get back to Dynamo proper and Revit soon!

I am having the same issue with Pie Chart node not being available in Dynamo for Revit 2023.1.2.
I have installed Dynamo Core 2.16.1.2727 and Dynamo Revit 2.16.1.6510

Out of the box chart nodes are available with the Revit 2024.1 release. If you are using Revit 2023 you’ll have to use a package.

You need Dynamo 2.18 which comes with 2024.1. For 2023 I think its the Mandrill package?
