Corner origin Rectangle

Hello,

I am new to Dynamo, but I have used other visual programming languages, such as Grasshopper, so I have a basic working knowledge. Regarding my particular question, I am attempting to generate an agglomeration of rectangles that are rotated about a randomized point. My issue is that the rectangle’s origin is at its center. For my “agglomeration” to work, I need the corner of the rectangle to be its origin. Thus, the rotation, which is also randomized, will be about that corner. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Alex

Hi @pprivado maybe something like this

hi

CoordinateSystem.ByCylindricalCoordinates with a Math.Random and multiplication node providing the variation.

Then Rectangle.ByWidthLength and you’re done.

Great, this is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much for this. I had to finagle this into my script, but I managed to figure it out.

Although I am already indebted to you, I wonder if you happen to have any resources for me to learn more about Dynamo?

Hi @pprivado glad you got it working>>>>
Links below are a good start as well as the primer

Hello Kai,

Thank you again. I will be reading through the primer thoroughly. This video also seems extremely helpful. Again, thanks a ton!
