Hi there,
Hi @Daan
Hi @jacob.small
what is the best way to copy & recalculate values from parents to Parts?
I Have two structural beams, cut into pieces.
Step 1; beams to parts.
Step 2: parts being sliced to even smaller parts by reference planes.
Now I want to report the mass and surface of this smaller elements, by recalculating its share, based upon the volumes.
What is the proper way to put a relationship between parent & heir?
Do I have to copy the ID parameter to text, or is their a build-in connection hard coded somewhere, which I might address in Dynamo?
Kind regards,
Willem
What application are you in (Revit, Civil 3D, Advance Steel, Alias, Robot, etc.)? The screenshots look somewhat foreign.
99% certain that with the Revit API you can get the parent from a part - might have to repeat it for nested cuts. From there you can group by initial source and copy parameter values (assuming the parameter exists on the part), or write out to an external tool for scheduling, or even record the part ids to the parent.
Hi @jacob.small The interface is Assemble, the application is Revit indeed.
The source is available as you mentioned, I got the script with a little help from my fraind.
