Automatic window dimensioning with Dynamo

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to add a simple linear dimension using Dynamo, with the Genius Loci package — but with no success.
The dimension elements are created (I can see them in Dynamo and find them by ID in Revit), but they don’t appear in the view.

I’ve attached a snippet and the code file.

Has anyone managed to successfully create dimensions in Dynamo?

createDimentions.dyn (36.5 KB)

Hi @leeUT3Y6 try something here and see if it could be better

Hi @sovitek
This script works only if the window or the door is symmetrical top down…
I couldn’t managed to use it for the attached family for example

double door with electric shade.rfa (580 KB)

yeah probably, but if we talk windows family as your in headline something i show could work, but it will always depends on your families reference, doors its another story, in my opinion, specielly vertical as these sometimes doesnt have bottom reference…but again depends how the family is build…or try with some other reference, guess Genius Loci, almost support them all

Most of my window families are not symmetrical top down.
The Genius Loci was my first try as you can see in the first comment, and no luck using it so far..

Hi @leeUT3Y6 something here with genius loci on your shared family. ps, check your family for valid reference and set it ,
or try what @christian.stan suggest with ootb

open the family and set the refplane top reference and create a bottom refplane and lock it…
