Move 3d views

Hello guys,

A couple of months ago I had a problem mirroring 3d views and we manage to do that with the help of Alban de Chasteigner.

Now what we are trying to do is moving them, I thought that was going to be much simpler but not sure why is not working.

Any ideas???

Hi @BIMadmin,

You need to use the section box (BoundingBox) to change the coordinates of your 3D views.
Once you have modified the bounding box, you apply them to the 3D views.

Hello Alban,

Many thanks for your help, really appreciated.

H

owever in my end the definition run but the cameras stary where they were.

Do they move in your end?

Not sure if it is relevant, but what I have noticed is that the dimensions of the bounding box and cuboids are the same on the three 3dviews and I think they should be different.

Can you add your revit file ?

Project1.rvt (3.0 MB)

it’s an empty one with a couple 4 walls and 2 perspective cameras.

I am trying a different route by moving the eye and the target, however I am stuck, not sure how to combine both.

I think it should be two different methods for axonomectric views and perspective views.

You can move the cameras of the perspective views.
It seems that the unit of the eye position isn’t in millimeters.

Hello Alban,
Thanks again for your help
The cameras dont move in my end, I have slightly modifed the graph to select a model line instead of specifying coords.

The perspective nor the axos are moving.

Like I wrote before, there is an unit conversion issue with the cameras.
With a length of 8900 mm, the cameras are moved 2,7 km away.

It works well with the axonometric views.

Thanks Alban for the explanation, I thought that by selecting an element the software automatically assign the right units, I guess I am wrong…

So I need to operate with the lengh of that line or use another method, right?

Yes I think you must convert the length of the selected curve.

P.S : the perspective views don’t refresh well after the graph run.

Great,

I will give it a go

Many thanks for your support!!!You are a star

As I thought, it is necessary to convert millimeters to feet to move the eye position.

To move the axonometric views, you must tick the section box option.

It’s really weird but to update the camera position, you will need to select the perspective view, show camera, select camera, go to view and return on the floor plan.

Hello Alban,
Thank you so muuuuch again.
It is a pain that we need to go perspective by perspective selecting the cameras so they update the position.
It would be great if anyone could tell us why this happen and if there is any procedure to automate this.
I have simplified a little bit the translation part scaling the vector instead of the line.

Thank you very much again for your support!!!

You’re welcome.

You might ask why perspective views do not regenerate immediately to the creator of the Synthetic package.
There is a github page.
