Hello #DynamoBIM enthusiasts. We have some existing news for you from AU2025. We are introducing Agentic workflows in Dynamo.
We have been looking at how we can leverage Model Context Protocol (MCP), which is a way for Large Language Models to connect to, and work with API’s. We want to leverage this emerging new technology in Dynamo to imbue the intelligence layer to make Dynamo smarter and empower you all more.
We’re started working on two vectors: a Dynamo MCP Server using the Autodesk Assistant, and Agentic Nodes. Both these features are in an Alpha state, and we have some pretty groundbreaking things to show you!
With the Dynamo MCP, you can now ask the assistant to do things in Dynamo for you like co-creating graphs, writing Python code, and updating existing graphs. Unlike variable AI prompts, you can co-create deterministic and inspectable graphs leveraging Agentic AI to deliver consistent, reliable results every time.
Whereas with Agentic Node, you can orchestrate AI workflows by connecting to any other tool enabled by a MCP server without any native integration. You can also use Agentic nodes to solve complex logic and manage squishy data.
This is our first step to enable agentic workflows in Dynamo and transition from a manual, and prescriptive scripting tool to a conversational, intent driven graph authoring environment. We’re shifting into a world where your ability to tell a story, to describe what you want holds just as much weight as your technical expertise.
Both our current explorations are in active development in an Alpha state, so there are lot of rough edges and the experience maybe unstable. But, if you are interested in testing them, drop us a message and stay tuned for more.
Update: In order to give you access to Alpha testing, we need your email ID to add you to the project on Autodesk Feedback Community. If you are interested please DM me your email ID.
