How to get Parameter value which is set by category?

Hello dear Dynamo-Users,

my goal is to retrieve the materials (e.g. wood, glass, metal) of this door. The material parameters of this door are set by their category and I am wondering how I can get to those categories to retrieve the materials.
Can anybody help me?

Probably my request was not that clear… I am trying to get the final material of the door (like wood, glass etc), which is defined by the category. But I don’t know how to archieve this, since the parameter value is set by category (“nach Kategorie”). In the end I am looking for a workflow that retrieves the materials for those doors.

You’ll need to pull the settings from the document for anything set by category.
Document > Settings > Category > Maybe Subcategory is there are elements on subcategories of the family.
