Grid intersection Grid reference

I am wondering if someone can help me, I have been trying to get the closest grid reference to the centre of the room, so i watched the video by the aussie bim guru which really helped but there is a issue i need to resolve. as the grid intersect goes by the closest it does not always give me the correct reference in terms of how a grid reference is read i.e eastings to northings or as i remember it along the corridor and up the stairs. is there a way i can make it only read left to right and then down to up

currently the closest grid intersect is grid b but in this case it should be grid a as its in grid a’s box

Not sure, what I’m trying to do is get a Map style grid reference for the centre points of a room in a floor plan
