I get some error when apply the node you mentioned to get vertex, log file says there is no selection.

Might be a bit late to help you, but I struggled with the same issue. What I found was that sometimes it worked and on other files it did not. Turns out the issue was related to the types of polylines I was using. The node does not process 2D polylines (heavy) it only does polylines (light).
