Familyinstance.Bypoint on multiple families

Hi,

i made a script that succesfully extracts coordinates from an excel and places a family on that coordinate. Its a succes when i run the script on first of three families that need to be loaded in.

However when i try and change family type in the dropdown, switch excel sheetsnames and run it again. it erases the family i placed when i did my first run.

Is there a way to solve this so i can run this back to back to back and load 3 different families in the file?

This is Element Binding. Read the topic linked and reply here if something doesn’t work.

interesting topic. but i did as mentioned by disconnecting and even copied it to a new dyn. file but still nothing.

opened it in my notepad an binding is defenitly present. saved the copied file so ill try and use option 2

have you tried using dynamo player?

option 2 is defenitly a no-go for me. just corrupted my copied file.

You removed too much or too little, or edited something else. I promise it can work as I have done it at least 100 times now. Turning off ‘word wrap’ can help.

sorry for late reply. i dont have acces to notepad ++ only to regular notepad. i put the dyn file and txt file in attachement. ive tried deleting multiple times but im guessing im deleting a bracket too much or less. could you mark what needs to be deleted?
ImportFromExcel-BINDING.txt (68.9 KB)
ImportFromExcel-BINDING.txt (68.9 KB)

On the phone as I am traveling so that’s a tough ask. Should read as "Bindings": [] when you are done.

i saved this but still the same problem

so i’ve tried all three families and one stays in the project. but when i try the other 2 one deletes when i try and load the other

After clearing bindings are you closing and reopening the graph without saving? Or are you running via Dynamo Player? If the answer to both of those is ‘no’ then while you cleared the bindings from the file you haven’t circumvented the behavior.

Managed to solve it through your powerpoint from AU. very helpful!

Thanks for the help @jacob.small. im defenitly gonna check out the video of the presentation too.
