Automatic doors in revit with dynamo from dwg

Yes. i just think this thread goes now in many direction, yes its possible…you can actuelly build almost all with Dynamo what you can do in revit itself, just about sorting and practice and have valid data…so best if we should go deeper just create a new thread, where we do that, in deep

I use these packages in this script.

could you explain more about how you created this window script?

Create windows is the same as doors, just define a window sill height.

Do you think all this could also be applied to the insertion of windows?

As said before yes they are both placed very similarly, hosted to a wall, point based placement.

You may be noticing that the thread is not always as productive if you just ask if things can be done versus doing some work then having people help with it. Most things are possible to automate, so asking if it can be done wont get results/help typically. Many users see ‘can X be done’ as a subtle way of saying ‘can you build a tool that does X for me’, which is typically not encouraged on the forums.

Have a crack, share your outcome/where you get stuck and you will get much better engagement.

I never understood my questions as a can you ask…
I’m just a simple user who is learning to use dynamo and thanks to your suggestions and your created examples he is trying to learn. I ask not because it is being done to me, but above all if I already knew how to do it I certainly would not have asked questions but probably answers. Thanks anyway for your availability. the previous examples certainly made me understand many things

Understand that I’m not trying to make you feel bad, it’s just a valuable lesson we all also learnt as beginners that the best outcomes will be those where we explore a bit ourselves, then ask more contextual questions - then the outcomes of our learning are driven by us.

I get a lot of queries on my own YouTube videos of a similar nature, ‘can X be done’. Sometimes I just reply with ‘Yes’, and the next question is usually ‘show me how’. In that process the user relinquishes all possibilities of self-learning.

Once you develop into a more fledged programmer (and I’m sure you will), there are less support networks of people with ample time to solve more complex problems although there are of course a lot of resources like the forums which still help a lot. I always recommend learners prepare for this later stage of their journey by getting in the habit early of:

  1. Assuming everything is likely possible
  2. Exploring what has been done by others
  3. Exploring what you can do
    and then
  4. When you hit barriers, engage the forums directly

It will give you the best chance of developing towards more independent programming, which is generally necessary for programmers in AEC firms who are often the last line of support for users and the tools they develop.

I totally appreciate you are earlier in this journey and we’re very accomodating at the forums, but we like to guide people towards what we know from experience will be the likely best chance to succeed in the longer term. We’ve all made the same mistakes/errors as each other along the way, so we’re generally empathetic. Many of us had a slower/longer journey due to choosing less efficient learning routes, so many of us try to show these shortcuts/ways of learning more effectively to avoid taking as long a journey as we have.

Hello, I was trying to do some tests on the script but this time inserting windows and I wanted to implement it with some nodes that give me the possibility by inserting an input in the choice of the Sill Height of the window. I tried to insert these but it gives me error, in fact they do not undergo variation in height but always remain at the level of the level. Where am I wrong? Thank you
