At the suggestion of @SeanP we have implemented visual cues to indicate in a post who the Author is, as you can see below:

Any feedback on this would be much appreciated as we can make sensible tweaks (Such as thickness or color) to ensure it’s either bolder, or more subtle.
Edit: Grey is now Blue, so the image is already out-of-date Huzzah for instant-changes!
Just noticed this before I saw the post. Love it!
However, it seems like anywhere a user is shown on an Author’s post gets highlighted at the moment.

More of a note, but on mobile the author tag shows before the name.
