Might want to rotate the geometry to have the primary angle aligned to the X axis before pulling the bounding box to keep consistent geometry measurements.

Thanks for the reminder. Took a look at yours and the lack of documentation made it hard for me to wrap my head around which direction you took, so I started fresh based on my original idea.
