Is there a straight forward way to duplicate multiple family instances, on the same point?

Are you placing the family through Dynamo? In such a case, you can just repeat the points that you’d like to have multiple instances on.
Otherwise, if the instances were placed previously, you could try Clockwork’s “Element.CopyByVector” node with a zero vector:
