Undo is computationally more efficient in the context of Revit dimensioning than temporary graphics. By a wide margin. Similarly leveraging element binding and allowing re-creating the dimension at a particular length, or allowing the user to position after creation is likely faster and certainly more stable.
Don’t get me wrong - this is a VERY inventive that I’m glad to see you experimenting with. I just want to be sure you’re aware that there’s some potential pitfalls as you scale this out - these will be non-trivial efforts (in fact in some cases the level of effort to make this work for a Revit update would match the level of effort to build the initial version) with what I am assuming is a bunch of Python scripts running under the hood.
thanks yes it based on a few python script that detect keyboard buttons presses and LMB presses and from that i finish the rest , right now im still trying it on real projects and for some reason the line does not show , im still trying it out!
by the way , mr jacob ,any idea why the line show in dynamo when i hover over the walls but in revit it doesnt show? it used to show on a smaller scale project, but now on a big one , i cant help to make it show
First try to remove periodic run and see if that fixes it.
i did try , it still doesnt, it shows perfectly in dynamo preview, but in revit active view it doesnt
You could also try disabling all other geometry in the view, but that’s also hit or miss in a lot of ways.
For someone to help efficiently you’d have to post your full workflow and a dataset to use it on, but I’m not sure I even have time to open the file this week.
Hi @amir.kharrat i tried your dataremember and seems you curves goes in from there and the reason you dont see them is they are really really short, try isolate them and zoom extent and you will see that
its not the refernece curves i dont see , i dont see the dimensions line in revit , but on dynamo i do see them , its weird
