I wrote a Dynamo graph for Revit 2023. Now I’m trying to update it for Revit 2026. The graph reads an Excel file containing data on the elevation name, view type, view name, phase, and view template. It then creates the views based on the data with the exception of setting the view’s view template. I haven’t found a node that will set the view template from a list. Does anyone have any idea how I can finish the last part of the graph for Revit 2026? All help is greatly appreciated.

How did you manage it in 2023?

Someone wrote a python script. But it doesn’t work in 2026.

Yes. But here’s the strange thing. I went back to the original graph and it worked. The only thing that’s different is I loaded the archilab package to see if there was a node that would work. I don’t understand how that would suddenly make the graph work. There are not archilab nodes in the graph. Sorry to take up your time. And I appreciate the fast response.

If you loaded the wrong (or right) version of [Archi-Lab](https://forum.dynamobim.com/t/revit-2022-dynamo-2-10-package-not-showing-up-and-icons-missing/62933/7?) it could readily resolve the issue. [Archi-Lab](https://forum.dynamobim.com/t/revit-2022-dynamo-2-10-package-not-showing-up-and-icons-missing/62933/7?) does require that you load in the right build of it for your Revit release, so on subsequent startup of Revit if the graph stops working check the link in this post to make sure you have the right release.

Well I spoke to soon. The python nodes aren’t working. When I tested it on in a real scenario with 50+ views, all of the views are on the same phase and the same view template.

</div>

When I did a basic test creating two view’s, it seemed to work. However, after further testing, the Create Views python node isn’t processing the view types and the Apply Phases fails. The graph creates the views, but their all floor plans, don’t change to the correct phase and don’t change to the proper view template.

The Create Views python node isn’t processing the view names either. The first view is coming form the elevation name. The remaining view are duplicates, e.g., (1), (2), etc.

Please include Watch nodes or pinned node preview bubbles with _every_ node. We have no idea what your excel data looks like (or what the error is saying) and therefore can’t follow anything that’s happening in your graph.

The five green groups are listed and labeled by the data processed from the spreadsheet. Here is an image of the spreadsheet:

 ![Create Floor & Ceiling Plans Template xlsx](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex022/uploads/dynamobim/original/3X/6/b/6bfe07d7bd2bacb654a2c1e888cbbfd89f653e53.png)

The _Create Views_ python node is not properly processing the view type and view name data from the spreadsheet. The _Apply Phases_ python node is not properly processing the view phase data from the spreadsheet. And the _Apply View Template_ python node is failing, probably due to the _Create Views_ python node not properly processing.

The purpose of the graph is to read data from a spreadsheet and create floor and ceiling plans on a specific level, with specific view names, phases, and view templates.

Why are you using a Python node to create the views instead of one of the out of the box nodes?

Asking as that is the failure, but what is causing the failure isn’t yet understood (missing the data preview for IN[1]; not clear what the script is doing)

I couldn’t find nodes that would set the phase and view template of the views base on text from a list. The nodes required objects not text. If you know of a better way I’m open to it.

That’s what the API requires. Doing this in Python would still have the same constraints. You would have to get a list of all phases and all view templates and match the names in both cases. Applying the phase and template to the view would come after the view’s creation in both cases as well, so you’re still free to use an out of the box node and then apply the parameter values you want.
