Extracting glass panels with offset from CAD facade grid - width, height and area

Hi everyone, I’m a beginner with Dynamo and I’m working on a script to extract glass panels from a CAD facade grid imported in Revit.

The panels have a fixed inward offset from the grid lines. I need to create a surface for each panel and extract width, height and area for ordering purposes.

The script should work for any grid size and layout, not just one specific facade.

Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Welcome to the Dynamo forum! This is a fun challenge. A few questions first:

  • What version of Revit and Dynamo are you running?
  • Are the CAD lines import lines, or are they in a linked file?

Can you share what you’ve tried so far? A screenshot of your current graph would help a lot - and if possible, a sample file (even a stripped-down version) would go a long way toward diagnosing the issue.
